However a good friend of mine when diagnosed with diabetes some years ago stated that he not going to accept the fact that he had diabetes. He was strong character and just bluntly refused to be a diabetic.

First of all he did not give up eating all the things he loved to eat, he adjusted his eating habits to provide a healthy eating routine which controlled his blood sugar. He balanced his carbohydrates, fats and proteins to produce a diabetic meal plan which he enjoyed but which eventually made him a non diabetic!
The main thing you need to take on if you wish to emulate his success is that you need to eat a wide variety of foods which are balanced to prevent your blood sugar from spiking. The carbohydrates which you include on your diabetic meal plan need to have a low glycemic index, this will prevent blood sugar spikes, some good low glycemic grains are pearl barley, quinoa and bulgar wheat. You lean protein could come from skinless chicken breast or venison, beef from the loin area or could also be plant based from legumes, beans or soya protein.
An easy way to quickly plan you diabetic meal plan is to have one quarter low glycemic carbohydrates, one quarter lean proteins and one half vegetables. Write down 10 different meals which have these combinations and you can easily prepare a meal without a lot of thought.
If you must have one of favourite snacks, make sure to eat some lean protein with it, you can keep a supply of ready cooked protein in the fridge which will make life easier, You could also eat some form of high fiber to slow down the sugar absorption.
Believe me when I say this works, and can work quickly. My friend followed this diabetic meal plan for 45 days, not only was he diagnosed as a non diabetic at the end of this period, but he also dropped 39 lbs in weight. When I first met him after this I could hardly believe my eyes. He looked so fit and healthy. It changed his life and it could change yours.
